Plain-English summary: We collect what you give us at signup (username, email, password) and what you do on the site (bids placed, items won or listed). We use it to run auctions and send required notices. Marketing only goes out if you opt in. We do not sell your data, we honor Global Privacy Control, and you can request deletion at any time.

3. How We Use Your Information

Run the platform: authenticate logins, record bids, send win/outbid notifications, coordinate pickups.
Process payments: via integrated payment providers; we receive confirmation only, not card data.
Communicate: transactional emails (bid status, account security, won-item details). Required to operate the auction.
Marketing: only if you separately opt in. Unsubscribe any time without affecting transactional emails.
Security & fraud prevention: detect shill bidding, fake accounts, payment abuse.
Legal compliance: sales tax records, lawful requests, dispute records.

4. Legal Bases (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, we rely on:

Contract: to deliver the auction platform service.
Consent: for marketing emails and any optional cookies.
Legitimate interest: security, fraud prevention, basic analytics.
Legal obligation: tax records, dispute records.

5. Who We Share Information With

We use a small number of trusted processors. We do not sell your data.

6. Cookies, Analytics and Chat

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in, plus standard hosting and security cookies. These are strictly necessary and cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in.

Our analytics are first-party and deliberately thin. We record the page path and the hostname that referred you. We do not store IP addresses, we set no analytics cookie, and there is no cross-site advertising tracker anywhere on this site. Nothing here builds a profile of you, so there is no banner asking you to accept it.

Live chat is the one exception. Our chat widget is operated by Tawk.to, which sets its own cookies and, if you are signed in, receives your username and email so an agent knows who they are talking to. It stays switched off until you turn it on. Your choice is stored in your own browser and is never sent to us. Clear your site data to be asked again.

7. How Long We Keep Data

Account and bid history: while your account is active, plus a reasonable period after closure.
Transaction records: up to 7 years (tax / accounting compliance).
Marketing list entries: until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
Server logs: typically 30–90 days.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.) you may have the right to:

Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
Restrict or object to processing
Receive a copy of your data in portable format
Withdraw consent at any time
Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

9. State Privacy Rights (California, Colorado, Connecticut and similar)

Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Virginia (VCDPA) and other states with comparable statutes have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the right not to be treated worse for exercising any of these.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We never have.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out on arrival. In practice that means third-party chat never loads for you and we never ask you to accept it. You do not need to fill in a form, send an email, or create an account for this to take effect, and we do not log the fact that you sent the signal.

To exercise any other right, use the Opt-Out and Data Requests page. You get a reference number as soon as your request is stored. We reply within 30 days, and usually inside 72 hours.

10. Children

AuctionGera is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will delete the account.

11. Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, encrypted backups, and reputable hosting/processing partners. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, by email or in-app notice.
